Plaza cuidana housing development

Location: Albuquerque, NM

MRWM provided the landscape architectural consultation for schematic design through construction documents for this Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership project. The 68-unit multi-family rental apartment complex responds to the need for affordable housing for families with children and individuals with special needs.

The landscape design helps the development achieve its strategic goal of promoting the physical and emotional well-being of the community while enriching the living experience of the area residents. The residential spaces such as front porches and small backyards are addressed with easy-to-maintain ornamental trees and shrubs, providing privacy where appropriate.

MRWM also assisted with the site design and planting and irrigation design for a central community gathering area that includes a basketball court, a ‘plazuela’ for teens to hang out in and watch basketball, a play area for younger children, and lawn areas for picnicking and relaxing.
